Boston Amateur Basketball Club

Est. 1977

Established in 1977, the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) has evolved into one of the most prestigious amateur basketball programs in the country. Founded by Head Coach Leo Papile, the BABC has much to be proud of having won 26 National Championships and capturing 112 gold medals in the AAU New England competitions.

Our Founding Father…

At the BABC we view basketball as the penultimate team sport. Thus we always tell our rookies; when you return home from your initial BABC road trip folks will ask, “how did you do?” Many will state, “I didn’t get enough run”, “I didn’t get enough touches” or “I didn’t get any whistles”. Others may simply state, “we won”.  Many young players get confused as to the object of this game.  Those players should elect to participate in an individual sport like boxing, golf or tennis. Basketball is a ”WE” sport. Our half a century in the game has allowed us to teach this cautionary proverb; as you ascend the ladder seek TEAM ranking and allow individual accolades as a result of your contributions.
